Long tailback on Mawa-Bhanga Expressway for slow toll collection ......... Observer Online Report
The toll collection from motor vehicles plying on the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga (Bangabandhu) Expressway began on Friday (July 1) morning.

Because of slow pace of toll collection, a five kilometer long tailback was created on Dhaleshwari area of Keraniganj on the first day, witnesses said. Private, freight and public transport had to wait for a long time in the scorching heat to pay the toll.

As per the interim rate of Tk 10 per kilometre as the base toll, before finalizing the toll rate in line with the toll policy, 2014.

Now medium-sized truck will have to pay Tk 550 for the 55 kilometre expressway as the base toll.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the toll is Tk 495 (90 per cent of base tolls) for buses, Tk 138 (25 per cent) for cars (Sedans) and Tk 28 (5 per cent) for motorcycles.

Toll of other vehicles will also be determined accordingly.
