Tag Question কী?

কোনো বক্তব্যের শেষে ছোট একটি প্রশ্ন যোগ করে বক্তার বক্তব্যটি নিশ্চিত করা বা শ্রোতার সম্মতি জানার জন্য যে প্রশ্ন করা হয়, তাকে Tag Question বলে।

Example:

• You are a student, aren't you?
• He can drive, can't he?

Formula

Positive Statement + Negative Tag

Negative Statement + Positive Tag

Rule–1: Statement Positive হলে Tag Negative হবে।

Examples

• She is a teacher, isn't she?
• They are playing, aren't they?
• We have finished our work, haven't we?
• He will come tomorrow, won't he?
• You can swim, can't you?

Rule–2: Statement Negative হলে Tag Positive হবে।

Examples

• She isn't a teacher, is she?
• They aren't playing, are they?
• We haven't finished our work, have we?
• He won't come tomorrow, will he?
• You can't swim, can you?

Rule–3: Auxiliary Verb না থাকলে Do / Does / Did ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Present Simple

• He plays football, doesn't he?
• They work hard, don't they?

Past Simple

• She went to school, didn't she?
• Rahim bought a book, didn't he?

Rule–4: Subject অনুযায়ী Pronoun ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Examples

• Rahim is honest, isn't he?
• The boys are playing, aren't they?
• The book is interesting, isn't it?

Rule–5: I am হলে Tag হবে "aren't I?"

Example

• I am your friend, aren't I?

Rule–6: Let's থাকলে Tag হবে "shall we?"

Examples

• Let's play football, shall we?
• Let's go home, shall we?

Rule–7: আদেশ (Imperative Sentence)

Examples

• Open the window, will you?
• Close the door, will you?
• Please help me, will you?

Rule–8: Nobody, No one, None, Neither

এগুলো Negative অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। তাই Tag হবে Positive।

Examples

• Nobody came, did they?
• No one believed him, did they?
• Neither of them agreed, did they?

Rule–9: Everyone, Everybody, Someone, Somebody

Tag-এ সাধারণত they ব্যবহার হয়।

Examples

• Everybody enjoyed the game, didn't they?
• Someone called you, didn't they?

Rule–10: Never, Hardly, Rarely, Seldom

এগুলো Negative অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। তাই Tag হবে Positive।

Examples

• He never tells a lie, does he?
• She hardly eats junk food, does she?

Rule–11: There is / There are

Tag-এও there ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Examples

• There is a pen on the table, isn't there?
• There were many students, weren't there?

Rule–12: This, That, These, Those

Examples

• This is your bag, isn't it?
• Those are your books, aren't they?
