Admission of students to Classes 1 to 5 at non-government secondary schools will be conducted through a centralized digital lottery. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) will centrally oversee the admission process.

A source at the Ministry of Education told Dainikshiksha.com on Monday that the decision is expected to be finalized soon.

Under the proposed decision, all admission procedures for Classes 1 to 5 will be completed centrally through a digital lottery. Applicants will have to submit their applications online through the designated software within the date and time specified in the admission notice issued by the “Dhaka Metropolitan Admission Committee.”

The “Dhaka Metropolitan Admission Committee” will centrally conduct the digital lottery-based admission process for Classes 1 to 5 at non-government secondary schools across the country. Before the lottery is conducted, the software developed by the selected technical organization must be verified by another government-recognized technical organization to ensure its accuracy. A certificate confirming the verification must be preserved.

Along with the list of students selected through the digital lottery, a waiting list containing the same number of students as the available vacant seats will also be prepared. If any selected student fails to complete admission within the stipulated time, the next student on the waiting list will be admitted according to the order of merit. The sequence of the waiting list must be strictly maintained.

The “Dhaka Metropolitan Admission Committee” will send the list of selected students to the respective educational institutions.

The admission committees of the institutions will then verify the required documents and complete the students’ admission within the stipulated period. If, for any reasonable cause, a non-government educational institution from Classes 1 to 9 is unable to participate in the centralized online admission process, it may conduct admissions under its own arrangements after obtaining prior approval from the Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, for schools in Dhaka Metropolitan City, the three administrative police stations adjacent to each school will be designated as its catchment area. Forty percent of the seats at these schools will be reserved for students from the designated catchment areas.
