- Teaching Learning Materials: Picture of activity 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3/other family related photos
- Teaching Learning Activities
- • Exchange greetings with smiling face saying, "Good morning/Good afternoon!"
- • Ask Ss, "How are you today?" Encourage them to reply, "Fine, thank you."
- Review of the prior knowledge:
- • Ask Ss, "Dear Ss, what did we learn in the last classes?" Raise your hand, please. [Encourage Ss to share their answers.]
- Presentation of today's session:
- • Showing the picture of activity 1.1, ask Ss "What do you see here?"
- • Pointing to each of the picture, ask Ss, "Who is he/she?". [Inspire all Ss to respond to the question. Appreciate if they answer in Bangla.]
- • Now tell Ss, "Close your eyes and think of your own family and family members for thirty seconds."
- • Then, tell Ss, "Open your eyes and look at the picture of activity 1.2."
- • Ask Ss, "Does any picture match your family?" Allow some Ss to share their answers. • Tell Ss, "Today, we will read a text about Rahat's family." • Teach the new words of the text ( ) before reading the text. • Now, read aloud the text 2/3 times with proper stress and intonation. •
- • Explain the meaning of the text [Use Bangla if necessary].
- Practice activities:
- • Divide Ss into small groups.
- • Tell groups to label the pictures in activity 1.1 in group. • Allow them to talk about their actual family members.
- • Ask Ss to read the text in groups. Each of the group members will read one after another.
- • Tell other group members to listen and to correct him/her if he pronounces wrong. [Monitor and provide necessary help to read with correct pronunciation]
- • Then, S1 throws the ball to S2 and asks S2 to read the next sentence. In this way, S3, S4……will read the whole text [Keep notes for assessment]. • Praise Ss for their active participation
- Assessing learning:
- • Ask Ss short and simple questions from the text [activity 1.3] Consider the following assessment indicators while assessing the learning of the students.
- Feedback:
- • Support Ss throughout the class, especially those who cannot read the text with correct pronunciation.
- • Tell Ss to label the picture of activity 1.1 and to draw his/her own family in the blank box (f) of activity 1.2 at home.
- Summary of the session:
- Ask them, "What have we learnt today?" Tell them, "We have learnt about Rahat's family."
- Concluding the session:
- Say, "See you again in the next class. Bye."
