Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a lattice tower on ‘the Champ de Mars’ in Paris, France. The tower was named after the name of Engineer ‘Gustave Eiffel’, Whose company designed and build the tower. The construction of ‘the Eiffel Tower’ started on 28 January, 1887 and completed on 15 March, 1889. It was built as the entrance to the ‘1889 world’s Fair’. Very soon it has become a global cultural icon of France. It stands as one of the most recognizable structures in the world too. The tower is famous as the tallest construction in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world. Millions of visitors ascend it every year. It is 320 metres (1050ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-story building. Its base is square, measuring 125 metres (410 ft) on each side. The tower has three levels for the visitors. A visitor has to walk over 300 steps to go from ground level to the first level. The distance remains the same between the first level and the second level. The third and highest level can be accessed only by lift. The Eiffel Tower is universally admired as one of the wonders of the world.
