Metaphor and its definition

A metaphor is a figure of speech that directly compares two unrelated things, suggesting that one thing is another to highlight similarities between them. It doesn't use "like" or " make it a simile. Metaphors are used to create vivid imagery or deeper understanding. For example, in the phrase "Time is a thief," time is compared to a thief to emphasize how it can steal moments from our lives, without literally meaning that time is a person who commits theft.

"The world is a stage." – This suggests that life is like a performance, and people are like actors playing roles.

"Her voice is music to my ears." – Her voice is compared to music, implying that it is pleasant and soothing.

"Time is a thief." – Time is metaphorically described as a thief to emphasize how it takes away moments from our lives.

"He has a heart of stone." – This suggests that the person is emotionally cold or unfeeling.

"The classroom was a zoo." – The classroom is compared to a chaotic, noisy zoo, implying disorder.
