My home District Barishal
My home district is Barishal, a beautiful and historic region in southern Bangladesh. It is known as the "Venice of the East" because of its many rivers and canals. Barishal is rich in natural beauty, with green fields, wide rivers, and peaceful villages. The Kirtankhola River flows beside the city, adding to its charm. Agriculture is a major part of life here, and crops like rice, guava, and vegetables are widely grown. The district is especially famous for its delicious Barishal guavas. There is also a floating guava market that attracts many tourists. Barishal has a long history and was an important center during the British period. It is the birthplace of many famous people like Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq. The people here are friendly, hardworking, and hospitable. Education is valued, and many schools and colleges are found in the area. The University of Barishal is a symbol of educational development. Barishal is also rich in culture, with traditional music, festivals, and folk arts. The district is surrounded by rivers, making boat travel very common. During the monsoon season, the beauty of Barishal becomes even more magical. Fish is a common part of our meals, especially hilsa, which is found in nearby rivers. Barishal has good transport connections by road and river. The weather is generally warm and humid. I am proud to belong to Barishal. It is not only my home but also a source of peace, joy, and identity.
