Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences
Gardner’s theory explains that intelligence is multi-dimensional, not just measured through IQ or school performance. Each person has strengths in different intelligences.
He proposed that people learn, think, and solve problems in different ways, and each person has a unique blend of these intelligences.
Gardner identified 8 main intelligences:
1. Linguistic Intelligence
Ability to use language effectively (writers, speakers, teachers).
2. Logical–Mathematical Intelligence
Ability to think logically, solve problems, and understand numbers (scientists, engineers).
3. Spatial Intelligence
Ability to visualize and understand space (artists, designers, architects).
4. Bodily–Kinesthetic Intelligence
Skill in using the body to express ideas or perform tasks (athletes, dancers, surgeons).
5. Musical Intelligence
Ability to understand rhythm, melody, and music (singers, composers, musicians).
6. Interpersonal Intelligence
Ability to understand and interact well with others (leaders, teachers, counselors).
7. Intrapersonal Intelligence
Ability to understand oneself, emotions, motivations (philosophers, self-aware individuals).
8. Naturalistic Intelligence
Ability to understand nature, plants, animals, and natural patterns (biologists, farmers, environmentalists).
