Best Secondary School Teacher in Sunamganj.
Emdadul Haque Milon, an English teacher at Sonapur Model High School in Bishwambharpur upazila, has been selected as the best secondary-level teacher in Sunamganj district in recognition of his dedication, teaching skills and contribution to quality education.
He was selected by the office of the District Secondary Education Officer on September 21, ahead of World Teachers’ Day. The recognition has brought joy and pride among students, guardians, fellow teachers, family members and education enthusiasts in the area.
Milon has been serving the teaching profession with dedication and sincerity for many years. He has been appreciated for using student-friendly and innovative teaching methods to make English learning easier, effective and enjoyable. Alongside academic learning, he places emphasis on developing students’ morality, discipline and human values.
To help students learn English more easily, he has authored books titled Dynamic English Grammar and Dynamic Spoken English. The books have been published with approval from Bangladesh Pustak Prokashani, according to the information provided by him. His articles and writings on education, professional development and student guidance have also been published in several national and local newspapers. One of his articles was also published in London.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when regular educational activities across Bangladesh were disrupted, Milon conducted around 100 online classes for students. In recognition of his online teaching activities, he received awards from the upazila and district administrations.
At the beginning of his teaching career, Milon worked as a British Council School Coordinator. Through the Connecting Classrooms programme, he successfully facilitated interactions and learning activities involving schools from Bangladesh and other countries. His school received recognition through the International School Award programme, and he received the award from the British High Commissioner.
Milon has also been involved in various social initiatives. During the devastating floods of 2022, he took an initiative to provide financial assistance to affected students through the Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA). BELTA Sylhet Chapter and the local upazila administration extended support to the initiative.
Apart from teaching, Milon has been involved in a number of social and cultural activities. Through different social organisations, he has worked to support underprivileged and distressed people in his locality and workplace areas. He has also contributed to various initiatives involving students through Rotaract International and other local social organizations.
He has also been involved in development activities related to educational and religious institutions, including schools, mosques, madrasas and Eidgahs in his locality.
Expressing his reaction to the recognition, Emdadul Haque Milon said, “This recognition has increased my sense of responsibility. With the support of the school authorities, students, guardians, fellow teachers and well-wishers, I want to contribute more to the development of education. I will continue to make my best efforts to ensure quality teaching and learning for students in the future, as I have done in the past.”
His selection as the best secondary-level teacher of Sunamganj has been welcomed by the local education community, who see the recognition as an acknowledgement of his commitment to teaching and student development.
