Importance of Reading Newspaper Dialogue for Class 6-7

This easy dialogue is for Class 6 and Class 7 students. The English is simple and the sentences are short. Two friends, Rafi and Siam, are talking in the school library during the tiffin break.

Rafi: Good morning, Siam. What are you reading?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: শুভ সকাল, সিয়াম। তুমি কী পড়ছ?

Siam: Good morning, Rafi. I am reading today's newspaper.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: শুভ সকাল, রাফি। আমি আজকের সংবাদপত্র পড়ছি।

Rafi: Do you read the newspaper every day?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তুমি কি প্রতিদিন সংবাদপত্র পড়ো?

Siam: Yes, I do. My father brings a newspaper every morning, and I read it after breakfast.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যাঁ, পড়ি। আমার বাবা প্রতিদিন সকালে একটা সংবাদপত্র আনেন, আর আমি নাস্তার পর সেটা পড়ি।

Rafi: I never read newspapers. I think they are only for grown-up people.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমি কখনো সংবাদপত্র পড়ি না। আমার মনে হয় এগুলো শুধু বড়দের জন্য।

Siam: No, you are wrong. Newspapers are for everybody, including students like us.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: না, তুমি ভুল ভাবছ। সংবাদপত্র সবার জন্য, আমাদের মতো শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্যও।

Rafi: Really? What do we learn from a newspaper?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সত্যি? আমরা সংবাদপত্র থেকে কী শিখি?

Siam: We learn about our country and the world. We know the daily news, the weather, and sports results.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমরা আমাদের দেশ ও বিশ্ব সম্পর্কে জানি। আমরা প্রতিদিনের খবর, আবহাওয়া আর খেলার ফলাফল জানতে পারি।

Rafi: Does a newspaper help us in our studies?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সংবাদপত্র কি আমাদের পড়াশোনায় সাহায্য করে?

Siam: Yes, of course. It has a study page with general knowledge, essays, and stories. It also improves our English.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই। এতে সাধারণ জ্ঞান, রচনা আর গল্পসহ একটি পড়াশোনার পাতা থাকে। এটা আমাদের ইংরেজিও ভালো করে।

Rafi: That is very interesting. Which part of the newspaper do you like most?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা তো খুব মজার। সংবাদপত্রের কোন অংশটা তোমার সবচেয়ে ভালো লাগে?

Siam: I like the sports page most. I read the cricket news every day.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমার খেলার পাতাটা সবচেয়ে ভালো লাগে। আমি প্রতিদিন ক্রিকেটের খবর পড়ি।

Rafi: I also like cricket. From tomorrow, I will read the newspaper too.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমিও ক্রিকেট পছন্দ করি। আগামীকাল থেকে আমিও সংবাদপত্র পড়ব।

Siam: Very good. Reading the newspaper every day will make you wise and knowledgeable.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: খুব ভালো। প্রতিদিন সংবাদপত্র পড়লে তুমি জ্ঞানী ও বুদ্ধিমান হবে।

Rafi: Thank you, Siam. You have given me a very good suggestion.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ধন্যবাদ, সিয়াম। তুমি আমাকে খুব ভালো একটা পরামর্শ দিয়েছ।

Importance of Reading Newspaper Dialogue for Class 8-9

This dialogue is for Class 8 and Class 9 students. The language is a little richer and the ideas are more organized. Two friends, Arif and Fahim, meet in the school common room after class.

Arif: Hello, Fahim. How are you? I see you are reading a newspaper with great attention.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যালো, ফাহিম। কেমন আছো? দেখছি তুমি খুব মনোযোগ দিয়ে সংবাদপত্র পড়ছ।

Fahim: Hello, Arif. I am fine. Yes, I am reading the editorial of today's newspaper. It is about the importance of tree plantation.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যালো, আরিফ। আমি ভালো আছি। হ্যাঁ, আমি আজকের সংবাদপত্রের সম্পাদকীয় পড়ছি। এটা বৃক্ষরোপণের গুরুত্ব নিয়ে।

Arif: I rarely read newspapers. I get all the news from Facebook and YouTube.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমি খুব কমই সংবাদপত্র পড়ি। আমি ফেসবুক আর ইউটিউব থেকেই সব খবর পেয়ে যাই।

Fahim: Social media gives us news, but much of it is false or incomplete. A newspaper gives us true and complete news.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম আমাদের খবর দেয়, কিন্তু তার অনেকটাই ভুল বা অসম্পূর্ণ। সংবাদপত্র আমাদের সত্য ও সম্পূর্ণ খবর দেয়।

Arif: Is that so? What else can we learn from a newspaper?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তাই নাকি? সংবাদপত্র থেকে আমরা আর কী শিখতে পারি?

Fahim: A newspaper is a storehouse of knowledge. It gives us national and international news, articles of scholars, job advertisements, and examination notices.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সংবাদপত্র হলো জ্ঞানের ভাণ্ডার। এটা আমাদের দেশি ও আন্তর্জাতিক খবর, পণ্ডিতদের লেখা, চাকরির বিজ্ঞাপন আর পরীক্ষার নোটিশ দেয়।

Arif: I did not know that. Does it help students like us?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমি এটা জানতাম না। এটা কি আমাদের মতো শিক্ষার্থীদের সাহায্য করে?

Fahim: Of course. Reading newspapers improves our vocabulary, general knowledge, and writing skill. It also helps us in competitive examinations.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: অবশ্যই। সংবাদপত্র পড়লে আমাদের শব্দভাণ্ডার, সাধারণ জ্ঞান আর লেখার দক্ষতা বাড়ে। এটা প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষায়ও সাহায্য করে।

Arif: But newspapers also publish bad news and advertisements of harmful things.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: কিন্তু সংবাদপত্রে খারাপ খবর আর ক্ষতিকর জিনিসের বিজ্ঞাপনও তো থাকে।

Fahim: That is true. Nothing in this world is unmixed. We should take the good things from newspapers and avoid the bad ones.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা ঠিক। এই পৃথিবীতে কোনো কিছুই সম্পূর্ণ নির্ভেজাল নয়। আমাদের সংবাদপত্র থেকে ভালো জিনিসগুলো নেওয়া উচিত আর খারাপগুলো এড়িয়ে চলা উচিত।

Arif: You are right. A man who does not read newspapers remains ignorant about the world.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তুমি ঠিক বলেছ। যে মানুষ সংবাদপত্র পড়ে না, সে বিশ্ব সম্পর্কে অজ্ঞ থেকে যায়।

Fahim: Exactly. That is why we should make reading newspapers a daily habit.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ঠিক তাই। এ কারণেই সংবাদপত্র পড়া আমাদের দৈনিক অভ্যাসে পরিণত করা উচিত।

Arif: Thank you, Fahim. From today, I will read the newspaper for at least thirty minutes every day.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ধন্যবাদ, ফাহিম। আজ থেকে আমি প্রতিদিন অন্তত ত্রিশ মিনিট সংবাদপত্র পড়ব।

Fahim: That is a very good decision. You will see the change in yourself within a few months.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা খুব ভালো সিদ্ধান্ত। কয়েক মাসের মধ্যেই তুমি নিজের মধ্যে পরিবর্তন দেখতে পাবে।

Importance of Reading Newspaper Dialogue for SSC

This dialogue is for SSC students. The vocabulary is richer and the arguments are deeper. Two friends, Tanvir and Sabbir, are discussing the importance of reading newspaper before their test examination.

Tanvir: Good afternoon, Sabbir. I noticed that you always carry an English newspaper with you. Why do you read it so regularly?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: শুভ অপরাহ্ণ, সাব্বির। আমি লক্ষ্য করেছি তুমি সবসময় একটা ইংরেজি সংবাদপত্র সাথে রাখো। কেন তুমি এত নিয়মিত এটা পড়ো?

Sabbir: Good afternoon, Tanvir. I read the newspaper because it keeps me informed about the world. A newspaper is the mirror of the modern world.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: শুভ অপরাহ্ণ, তানভীর। আমি সংবাদপত্র পড়ি কারণ এটা আমাকে বিশ্ব সম্পর্কে অবহিত রাখে। সংবাদপত্র হলো আধুনিক বিশ্বের আয়না।

Tanvir: I understand it gives us news, but we can also get news from television and the internet within seconds.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বুঝলাম এটা আমাদের খবর দেয়, কিন্তু টেলিভিশন আর ইন্টারনেট থেকেও তো আমরা মুহূর্তের মধ্যে খবর পেতে পারি।

Sabbir: That is true, but television and the internet often give us only headlines. A newspaper gives us detailed news, background information, and the opinions of experts.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা ঠিক, কিন্তু টেলিভিশন আর ইন্টারনেট প্রায়ই আমাদের শুধু শিরোনাম দেয়। সংবাদপত্র আমাদের বিস্তারিত খবর, পটভূমির তথ্য আর বিশেষজ্ঞদের মতামত দেয়।

Tanvir: How does a newspaper help us as students?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: একজন শিক্ষার্থী হিসেবে সংবাদপত্র আমাদের কীভাবে সাহায্য করে?

Sabbir: In many ways. It improves our English vocabulary and sentence structure. It increases our general knowledge, which is essential for admission tests and job examinations. It also gives us ideas and information for compositions, paragraphs, and essays.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: অনেকভাবে। এটা আমাদের ইংরেজি শব্দভাণ্ডার আর বাক্য গঠন উন্নত করে। এটা আমাদের সাধারণ জ্ঞান বাড়ায়, যা ভর্তি পরীক্ষা আর চাকরির পরীক্ষার জন্য অপরিহার্য। এটা রচনা, অনুচ্ছেদ আর প্রবন্ধের জন্য ধারণা আর তথ্যও দেয়।

Tanvir: That makes sense. I have heard that newspapers also publish job circulars and admission notices.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: কথাটা যুক্তিসঙ্গত। আমি শুনেছি সংবাদপত্রে চাকরির বিজ্ঞপ্তি আর ভর্তির নোটিশও প্রকাশিত হয়।

Sabbir: Yes, exactly. Many students find their future opportunities through newspaper advertisements. It also publishes the results of examinations and important government notices.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যাঁ, ঠিক তাই। অনেক শিক্ষার্থী সংবাদপত্রের বিজ্ঞাপনের মাধ্যমে তাদের ভবিষ্যতের সুযোগ খুঁজে পায়। এতে পরীক্ষার ফলাফল আর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সরকারি নোটিশও প্রকাশিত হয়।

Tanvir: But some people say newspapers publish false news and create panic.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: কিন্তু কেউ কেউ বলেন সংবাদপত্র ভুল খবর প্রকাশ করে আর আতঙ্ক ছড়ায়।

Sabbir: Sometimes a newspaper may publish wrong news, but responsible newspapers always correct their mistakes. We should read reliable newspapers and judge the news with our own conscience.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: মাঝে মাঝে কোনো সংবাদপত্র ভুল খবর প্রকাশ করতে পারে, কিন্তু দায়িত্বশীল সংবাদপত্র সবসময় তাদের ভুল সংশোধন করে। আমাদের নির্ভরযোগ্য সংবাদপত্র পড়া উচিত আর নিজের বিবেক দিয়ে খবর বিচার করা উচিত।

Tanvir: You have convinced me. I will start reading an English newspaper from tomorrow.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তুমি আমাকে বুঝিয়ে ফেলেছ। আগামীকাল থেকে আমিও একটা ইংরেজি সংবাদপত্র পড়া শুরু করব।

Sabbir: That is a great decision. Start with thirty minutes a day. First read the headlines, then the editorial, and then the sports and education pages.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা দারুণ সিদ্ধান্ত। দিনে ত্রিশ মিনিট দিয়ে শুরু করো। প্রথমে শিরোনামগুলো পড়ো, তারপর সম্পাদকীয়, তারপর খেলা আর শিক্ষা পাতা।

Tanvir: Thank you for your valuable advice, Sabbir.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তোমার মূল্যবান পরামর্শের জন্য ধন্যবাদ, সাব্বির।

Importance of Reading Newspaper Dialogue for HSC

This dialogue is for HSC students. The English is mature, and the discussion covers the social and democratic role of newspapers. Two college friends, Rahat and Nabil, are talking in the college library.

Rahat: Hello, Nabil. You look very busy with the newspaper. What has caught your attention today?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যালো, নাবিল। তোমাকে সংবাদপত্র নিয়ে খুব ব্যস্ত দেখাচ্ছে। আজ কোন খবর তোমার মনোযোগ কেড়েছে?

Nabil: Hello, Rahat. I am reading a report on the national budget. A newspaper helps us understand how the government earns and spends money.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: হ্যালো, রাহাত। আমি জাতীয় বাজেট নিয়ে একটা প্রতিবেদন পড়ছি। সংবাদপত্র আমাদের বুঝতে সাহায্য করে সরকার কীভাবে টাকা আয় করে আর খরচ করে।

Rahat: Many of our classmates never touch a newspaper. They say newspapers are boring and old-fashioned.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমাদের অনেক সহপাঠী কখনো সংবাদপত্র ছুঁয়েও দেখে না। তারা বলে সংবাদপত্র বিরক্তিকর আর সেকেলে।

Nabil: That is a sad attitude. A newspaper is not merely a collection of news; it is an institution of democracy. It shapes public opinion and holds the powerful accountable.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা দুঃখজনক মনোভাব। সংবাদপত্র শুধু খবরের সংকলন নয়; এটা গণতন্ত্রের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান। এটা জনমত গঠন করে আর ক্ষমতাবানদের জবাবদিহি করতে বাধ্য করে।

Rahat: How does a newspaper do that?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সংবাদপত্র এটা কীভাবে করে?

Nabil: By exposing corruption, irregularities, and injustice. When a newspaper reports the sufferings of flood victims or the problems of farmers, the government is compelled to take action.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: দুর্নীতি, অনিয়ম আর অবিচার প্রকাশ করে। যখন কোনো সংবাদপত্র বন্যার্তদের দুঃখ বা কৃষকদের সমস্যার কথা জানায়, তখন সরকার ব্যবস্থা নিতে বাধ্য হয়।

Rahat: That is a powerful role. But does reading newspapers help us in our studies and career?

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এটা তো শক্তিশালী ভূমিকা। কিন্তু সংবাদপত্র পড়া কি আমাদের পড়াশোনা আর ক্যারিয়ারে সাহায্য করে?

Nabil: Immensely. It enriches our vocabulary, improves our writing style, and widens our outlook. For university admission tests, BCS, and job interviews, current affairs from newspapers are indispensable.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: অপরিসীমভাবে। এটা আমাদের শব্দভাণ্ডার সমৃদ্ধ করে, লেখার ধরন উন্নত করে আর দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি প্রসারিত করে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভর্তি পরীক্ষা, বিসিএস আর চাকরির সাক্ষাৎকারের জন্য সংবাদপত্রের সাম্প্রতিক ঘটনাবলি অপরিহার্য।

Rahat: I agree. A student who reads newspapers regularly can speak confidently on any topic.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমি একমত। যে শিক্ষার্থী নিয়মিত সংবাদপত্র পড়ে, সে যেকোনো বিষয়ে আত্মবিশ্বাসের সাথে কথা বলতে পারে।

Nabil: Exactly. Moreover, newspapers publish the writings of scholars, poets, and thinkers. They educate us, entertain us, and inspire us at the same time.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ঠিক তাই। তাছাড়া, সংবাদপত্রে পণ্ডিত, কবি আর চিন্তাবিদদের লেখা প্রকাশিত হয়। এগুলো আমাদের একই সাথে শিক্ষিত করে, আনন্দ দেয় আর অনুপ্রাণিত করে।

Rahat: Then we should encourage everyone to read newspapers. It is not a waste of time; it is an investment in knowledge.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: তাহলে আমাদের সবাইকে সংবাদপত্র পড়তে উৎসাহিত করা উচিত। এটা সময়ের অপচয় নয়; এটা জ্ঞানে বিনিয়োগ।

Nabil: Well said. Let us make it a habit to read at least one newspaper every day.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: খুব ভালো বলেছ। চলো, প্রতিদিন অন্তত একটা সংবাদপত্র পড়াকে অভ্যাসে পরিণত করি।

Keep the speeches short and natural; one speaker should not speak for too long at a time. Use the names of the speakers clearly, for example Rafi and Siam. Include the main points: news of the country and the world, general knowledge, English improvement, job advertisements, and the role of newspapers in democracy. End the dialogue with a thank-you and a positive decision, such as deciding to read the newspaper daily.
