কোন ব্যক্তি ,বস্তু, প্রাণী, দোষ, গুণ , অবস্থা নির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝাতে definite article 'the' বসে।

১. পৃথিবীতে৷ যে সকল বস্তু শুধু মাত্র একটি আর নেই তাদের পূর্বে the বসে।

যেমন - পৃথিবী, চন্দ্র, সূর্য, উত্তর, দক্ষিণ, পূর্ব, পশ্চিম, গ্রীষ্ম, বর্ষা,শরত,হেমন্ত, শীত,বসন্ত ইত্যাদির নামের পূর্বে the বসে।

a) The earth is round.

b)The Sun rises in the east.

c) The moon gives us light.

d) The Sun sets in the west.

e) Our school faces the South.

f) we get cold air from the North.

g) The Summer is a hot season.

h) The winter is very cold season.

i) The Spring is called the king of all seasons.

J)The Rainy season is harmful for the day labourers.
