Why should children learn coding?
A 16-year-old, computer whizkid and robotics geek from Goa, India talks about the missing link in the chain of computer education. He highlights the importance of learning to code at an early age in school education and makes a compelling argument that coding is not only for prospective engineers but for every person, as coding is a game of logic and can significantly influence the ability for better decision-making. Raunak is a 10th-grade student, with excellent coding skills in embedded C and Python languages. He is an avid Robotics geek and has volunteered as a SCRATCH programming teacher in and around schools in Goa as part of Project GEIT (Goans Empowered with Information Technology). He has also taken part & won accolades in Robotics competing against Engineering students. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
