Hakaluki Haor is considered a major wetland of our country. This is a very complex ecosystem. It contains about 238 beels and waterbodies that are inter-connected with each other. The haor is an important source of different fish in Bangladesh.Fishes like Kalibaus, Boal, Rui, Ghagot, Pabda and Chapila are found here. Beels in the haor provide shelter for many mother fishes in the winter season.The haor is a very important resting place for migratory birds.
