Dialogue on Price Hike for Class 6-7 (Simple and Short)

Rahim: Good morning, Karim. How are you?

Karim: I am fine, but I am not happy today.

Rahim: Why are you sad?

Karim: The price of everything is going up. My father is worried.

Rahim: What do you mean?

Karim: The price of rice, oil and vegetables is very high now. It is called price hike.

Rahim: Oh! I understand. My mother also talks about it every day.

Karim: The poor people suffer the most. They cannot buy enough food.

Rahim: Some dishonest shopkeepers raise the price. That is very bad.

Karim: You are right. The government should stop them.

Rahim: I hope the price will come down soon.

Karim: I hope so too. Thank you for talking with me.

Rahim: You are welcome. Goodbye.

Dialogue on Price Hike for Class 8-9 (Standard)

Sujon: Hello, Farhana. You look worried. What is the matter?

Farhana: Hello, Sujon. I am thinking about the price hike in our country.

Sujon: It is really a big problem now. Can you tell me what price hike means?

Farhana: Price hike means the sudden increase in the price of daily necessities.

Sujon: Which things are getting costly?

Farhana: Rice, cooking oil, onions, vegetables, fish and even medicine are costly now.

Sujon: Who suffers most from it?

Farhana: The poor and the middle class suffer the most. A day labourer cannot feed his family well.

Sujon: What are the causes of price hike?

Farhana: There are many causes. Inflation, short supply and hoarding are the main ones. Some dishonest businessmen store goods and create an artificial crisis. This is called black marketing.

Sujon: Natural disasters also raise the price, I think.

Farhana: You are right. Flood and cyclone damage crops. Then the price of food goes up.

Sujon: What are the effects of price hike?

Farhana: The living standard of common people goes down. Many families cannot eat three meals a day. Some poor children drop out of school because their parents cannot bear the cost.

Sujon: That is really sad. How can we solve this problem?

Farhana: The government should monitor the market strictly. TCB should sell goods at fair prices. Hoarders should get strong punishment. We should also increase our production.

Sujon: Your ideas are very good. I hope our country will get rid of this problem soon.

Farhana: I hope so too. Thank you for the nice talk.

Dialogue on Price Hike for SSC (Fuller)

Myself: Good afternoon, Tanvir. I went to the kitchen market yesterday and I was shocked.

Tanvir: Good afternoon. Why were you shocked?

Myself: The price of everything has gone beyond our reach. A few months ago the prices were much lower.

Tanvir: You are right. Price hike has become a common and serious problem in our country.

Myself: Can you explain what price hike actually means?

Tanvir: Price hike means the rapid and continuous increase in the price of essential commodities. It breaks the balance between income and expenditure.

Myself: Give me some examples of daily necessities whose prices are rising.

Tanvir: Rice, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, onions, potatoes, vegetables, fish, meat, eggs and baby food are all costly. Even the price of medicine and transport has gone up.

Myself: Who are the worst sufferers?

Tanvir: The fixed-income people, the poor and the lower middle class suffer the most. A rickshaw puller or a garment worker works hard all day but still cannot buy enough food for the family.

Myself: What do you think are the main causes behind it?

Tanvir: There are several causes. First, inflation reduces the value of money. Second, some dishonest traders form a syndicate and hoard essential goods. They create an artificial shortage and raise the price. Third, natural disasters like floods damage crops. Fourth, the rise in fuel prices increases transport cost, which also pushes prices up.

Myself: That is a clear analysis. What are the bad effects of price hike on our society?

Tanvir: The effects are serious. The standard of living falls. Poor families are forced to skip meals. Children suffer from malnutrition. Many students drop out of school. Social crimes also increase because hungry people become desperate.

Myself: How can the government control it?

Tanvir: The government should take strong steps. Market monitoring teams should visit markets regularly. TCB should sell essential goods at fair prices through its trucks and dealers. Hoarders and black marketers should be punished severely. The government should also help farmers to increase production so that we depend less on imports.

Myself: Do you think the common people have any duty here?

Tanvir: Yes, of course. We should not buy more than we need. We should avoid wasting food. We can also grow some vegetables in our home garden. Small steps like these can help a lot.

Myself: Thank you, Tanvir. I have learned a lot from this discussion.

Tanvir: You are most welcome. Let us hope the market becomes stable soon.

Dialogue on Price Hike for HSC (Advanced)

Nabil: Good evening, Sadia. Did you read today's newspaper? The editorial on price hike really caught my attention.

Sadia: Good evening, Nabil. Yes, I did. Honestly, price hike is the most talked-about issue in the country right now.

Nabil: How would you define price hike in simple words?

Sadia: I would say price hike is the abnormal and continuous rise in the prices of essential commodities, which goes beyond the purchasing capacity of the common people.

Nabil: That is a good definition. In your opinion, who bears the heaviest burden?

Sadia: Undoubtedly the poor, the day labourers and the fixed-income middle class. The rich hardly feel it, but a hand-to-mouth family feels every taka of increase.

Nabil: Let us discuss the root causes. What drives the prices up again and again?

Sadia: The causes are both economic and man-made. Inflation is the basic economic cause. Then there is the supply chain problem and our dependence on imports for items like cooking oil and lentils. But the most painful cause is man-made: dishonest businessmen form syndicates, hoard goods in secret warehouses and create artificial crises to make extra profit.

Nabil: I have also noticed that fuel price plays a big role. When diesel price rises, the transport cost of every product rises too.

Sadia: Exactly. And natural calamities make it worse. Every flood washes away crops in the haor and char areas, and the shortage immediately reflects in the market.

Nabil: What long-term damage does it do to the nation?

Sadia: The damage is deep. Nutrition falls because families cut protein items like fish, meat, eggs and milk from their menu. Children grow up weak. Education suffers because poor parents pull children out of school to earn. Frustration grows, and social unrest follows. A hungry nation can never move forward.

Nabil: That is a powerful observation. Now, what practical remedies do you suggest?

Sadia: First, the government must break the syndicates with an iron hand and punish hoarders publicly so that others fear to do it. Second, market monitoring should be regular, not seasonal. Third, TCB's fair-price sale should reach every district, not just big cities. Fourth, we must raise agricultural production with modern technology and fair prices for farmers. Finally, the import system should be transparent so that no group can manipulate it.

Nabil: Do you see any hope? Or will this problem continue forever?

Sadia: I am hopeful. Our people are hardworking and our land is fertile. If the government stays honest and active, and if we the citizens stay aware and stop wasting food, the market will become stable. Every dark cloud has a silver lining.

Nabil: Well said, Sadia. This discussion has widened my thinking. Thank you.

Sadia: The pleasure is mine, Nabil. Let us pray for a stable market and a happy nation.

Dialogue Writing Tips for This Topic

Opening a price hike dialogue is easy if you know a few natural patterns. Start with a greeting and a small personal touch. You can say, "I went to the market yesterday and I was shocked," or "You look worried. What is the matter?" Both open the topic smoothly. Avoid starting directly with the definition. Let one friend ask and the other explain.

Use these sentence patterns in the body. For definition: "Price hike means the sudden increase in the price of daily necessities." For causes: "One of the main causes is hoarding by dishonest businessmen." For effects: "As a result, poor families cannot eat three meals a day." For remedies: "The government should monitor the market strictly." These patterns fit almost every price hike dialogue question.

Close the dialogue with hope, not sadness. Good closings are: "I hope the price will come down soon," "Let us hope the market becomes stable," or "Thank you for the nice discussion." End with goodbye or thanks. Never end suddenly after the remedy part.

Avoid common mistakes. Do not mix up the speakers. Keep the names the same from start to end. Do not write very long speeches for one speaker in junior classes. Keep each speech short and natural, like real talk. Do not use difficult words without need in Class 6-7 dialogues. And never forget the বঙ্গানুবাদ if your question asks for a dialogue with Bengali meaning. Practise writing the full dialogue once by hand before the exam.
